The Key to Sydney - Circular Quay

Stakeholders:

Circular Quay Management Council

City Rail

Sydney Ferries

Sydney Buses

Today Circular Quay is well-known as one of Sydney's major transport hubs. What many do not know is that it is also the site of the first European settlement in Australia.

From observations of user interaction with the site, and also of the site itself, there is little emphasis on Circular Quay’s significance in Australia’s history.

The proposal aims to give Circular Quay back to the locals and tourists by educating them about the site’s rich and significant history.

This will involve rebranding the through a Site Plan to give it a cohesive design that will resonate on a universal level being both informative and descriptive.

SITE PLAN

The rebranding will evoke a sense of the site’s past, present and future. The Site Plan will divide the site into five Zones. Each zone will reveal a cultural or historical feature of Circular Quay.

Zone 1

The Cadigal People and their customs

Zone 2

Interactive Tour and Map generator

Zone 3

Plans and Visions for the future of Sydney

Zone 4

Reflecting on the city’s multicultural heritage

Zone 5

The Rocks and the first inhabitantants of Sydney
